auto run in windows 7

    i want to install a program on windows 7 64bit ultimate but it must be installed using AUTO RUN not set up.exe, can anyone tell me how I go about setting my computer up so that auto run will work please

    Hi

    You should be able to enable/disable autorun by going to

    Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Auto Play

    It gives you a number of options.

    Thanks for replying I know were auto play is in the control panel but I would like to know which one in the Auto Play I have to select when i install the program.Thanks

    What's the program and how are you trying to install it? (CD, download, flash drive, etc?)

    its a copy of Microssoft office 2010 and won't work if start it in set up.exe told to start it up with auto run

    You might try browsing the disk, right-clicking on any .inf files, see if there's in 'install' option.

    I have a autorun "setup Information (.inf)" which opens in notepad but that is about all i can find

    Yeah, it was a long shot. Did you right-click on the file? If so, what were the options?

    i wonder if this would work i went and right clicked on the autorun and it has an install option, wonder if I clicked that the program would run or not ?

    Hi

    Where did you get Office 2010 from? was it on a DVD or from a download package, if download package what website link?

    as Office 2010 should install ok from autorun or via the direct setup exe as I have various versions of Office 2010 and all install ok,

    I second this. I dont understand why you would have this problem in the first place unless the program is dodgy.

    One other thought: did you have another Office version on the machine in the past? Reason I ask: browsing through the Microsoft site, I found this KB 290301 - note the removal procedures, and the Fix-its.
