   I may be blind (been to mozzila.org) but -- I am looking for a setting in firefox for auto starting spf,avg when i start firefox??

   Would those applications not have already started up with your PC? or is it that you dont have them active until you want to go onto the net and only then have them start?
   
   if the latter then you could make a batch file to start all three up when you want them..... http://www.computerhope.com/batch.htm

   Thanks very much thats what i was looking for. I run an older machine on dialup so loading them at startup is just a longer step.
