Automatic logon when booting up.

ok, before i last reformatted i found a way of assigning my computer to automatically log me on, me being the only user. i just turned it on and it would go straight to my desktop.
but i've forgotten how to go about this! can anyone walk me through it?

 

Believe the easiest and the most suitable way of accomplishing simple and common XP tweaks such as this one would be to use XP Powertoy TweakUI Windows add-on developed by Microsoft, it is free too!

scroll down a bit and on the right hand side you will see 'Tweak UI' (not for the Itanium version!) the link to the executable. Once installed you will see it in the Programs list, open it then expand the LOGON options and enter your login name/password in the 'Auto Logon' section.

 

hmmm ok, i was certain there is an option to enable this in control panel...

 

Are you using home or pro edition?

 

Well, in Control Panel > User Accounts > Advanced > Secure Logon > Require users to press C-A-D. See that helps.

 

Don't worry i've used the xp tweak, and as mentioned in my signature, xp pro.
