    I am sorry in advance for ths size of this message that i am leaving. I think its the only way i can explain though. So i thank anybody in advance for taking the time to read.
    Ok everything i have been told to do on this email has not worked!!

    From the problem description and the previous logs, I understand that when trying to update Windows, the error code 80070424 was received. The below steps are performed, but the issue persists.

    1: Verify the relevant Windows Update services

    2: Rename the Windows Update Softwaredistribution folder

    If there has been any misunderstanding, please let me know.

    Being an end user myself, I fully understand this situation is frustrating. I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you have experienced. All your time and efforts are appreciated. Please be assured that I will do my best to help you.

    This issue can be caused by the following factors:

    1. Some Windows Update components are corrupted.

    2. Third party programs block Windows Update process.
    3. The component store that contains information about Vista components is corrupted.

    Based on the situation, let’s try the following steps:

    Register Windows Update components

    ============================

    1. Click the Start Button, click "All programs", and click "Accessories".

    2. Right-click "Command Prompt", and click "Run as administrator". If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    3. Please enter the following command, and press enter.

    REGSVR32 WUAUENG.DLL

    You will get a "DllRegisterServer in wuaueng.dll succeeded" window.

    4. Then, please move on to enter the following commands one by one. A success notification will be received after each command.

    REGSVR32 WUAPI.DLL

    REGSVR32 ATL.DLL

    REGSVR32 WUCLTUX.DLL

    REGSVR32 WUPS.DLL

    REGSVR32 WUPS2.DLL

    REGSVR32 WUWEBV.DLL

    5. After that, please check whether the issue persists.

    If the issue persists, let's disable all startup items and third party services when booting. This method will help us determine if this issue is caused by a loading program or service on computer startup. Please perform the following steps:

    Check this issue in Clean Boot mode

    =======================

    1. Click "Start", and type "msconfig" (without the quotation marks) in the Search box to start the System Configuration Utility.

    2. Click the "Services" tab, check the "Hide All Microsoft Services" box and click "Disable All" (if it is not gray).

    3. Click the "Startup" tab, click "Disable All" and click "OK".

    4. Click "OK" to restart your computer to Selective Startup environment.

    5. Check whether or not the issue still appears in this environment.

    Note: Temporarily disabling the Startup Group only prevents the startup programs from loading at startup. This should not affect the system or other programs. We may still manually run these programs later.

    How to return from a Clean Boot state

    =========================

    1. Click Start, type "msconfig" (without quotation marks) in the "Start Search" text box and then press ENTER.
    2. On the "General" tab, click "Normal Startup - load all device drivers and services".
    3. Click on the "Startup/Service" Tab and return your computer to the configuration we noted in the previous step. Place a checkmark in the items that were previously checked which will return your computer to its initial configuration.
    4. Click "OK". Click Restart when you are prompted to restart your computer.

    If the issue persists, to provide more effective support, please assist me in collecting the following information for further research.

    How to collect the WindowsUpdate.log file
    ================================
    1. Click the Start Button, type "WindowsUpdate.log" (without the quotes) in the Search Bar and Press Enter. We will see a file named "WindowsUpdate.log"
    2. Now click on the "File" menu and then click on the "Save As".
    3. From the left panel, click "Desktop" and click the Save button.

    thanks again for any help!!
