Hello. Recently, I have been having problems with my computer services on my Windows XP Professional OS. Whenever I start up my computer, they don't run! I mean, the very important ones like Plug & Play run, but there are at least 20 out of my 31 automatic services that don't run, probably more. I have to go to services.msc and manually start each of them up, one by one, which is a great hassle. The problem started very recently, only a couple of days ago. Is there any solution to this?

    Thanks in advance.

Check in the Event Viewer for error messages pertaining to these services.

Well, after checking the Event Viewer, it seems the processes are running and stopping. In exactly one second, all the processes run then a stop signal is sent and they stop. I'm dumbfounded.....

Some services, that are set to automatic may run once, but, then shutdown, when they are no longer needed.

Yes, this may be true, but very important ones are also shutdown such as Windows Audio, Windows Time, Workstation, Themes, WebClient, DHCP Client, DNS Server, NVIDIA Display Driver Service, Logical Disk Manager, and a lot more.

And if you go to run / cmd / and type sc at the prompt ...do you get the list of commands for the services?

Are there any event id numbers?

    Yes
They're 7035 when it's sending the start and stop controls and 7036 when the service successfully enters a start/stop state.
