This has about pissed me off.... :)

I installed this computer 1 week ago w/ winxp home (update version), and now get update errors on boot.

Made those go away by setting the update service to manual and turned off automatic updates.

Still can't update though. Tried a repair install of WinXP home and was back to the "automatic updates has encountered a problem and needed to close" on boot. Set the services for autmatic updates, and intelligent background transfer back to manual, and error gone.

WHen I open IE and try to update, another IE pops open and then it errors out. WTF? Moved HD to my lab machine, scanned it w/ mcaffee and norton w/ the newest updates and no virus or anything was found.

    Any thoughts?

Got the funky IE stuff fixed by installing a stand alone version of IE7. Also fixed the Update prob.
