automatic Updates Setup Wizard

Would like to get rid of the "automatic Updates Setup Wizard" sitting in my task-bar.
Frankly I dislike having software lodge itself on my computer without a simple method of getting rid of it (keeps happening with microsoft).

Couldn't find anything similar in previous posts, therefore I am posting.

A quick and effective response would be greatly appreciated.

Actually, an easier way would be to right click on My Computer->Properties->Automatic Updates Tab.

 

Just to add... you must be logged in to an admin-level account to change those settings.

 

Verbum (thread starter) here. Well guess I made the most basic blunder in my posting, I failed to mention the Operating System in question. The Operating System I am using is Windows 2000 Professional. I thank you all for the prompt response, but all the paths to a solution mentioned in the replies are not available in WIN2K. So I am still with the problem.

 

In Win2k you can access the Automatic Update settings in Control Panel. Just uncheck 'Keep my computer up to date'


I believe xflat's solution also works in 2k.
