Automatically Deleting empty folders

Hi, i have a harddrive that i have full of documents and info on my current work and all that stuff. There are hundreds of folders but a large number of them are empty due to the deletion of old files. This has been going on for years. I never deleted the folders for some reason. Well i was wondering is there any way i could search through the HD and find all the empty folders and delete them.

Is there any command in dos or in c/c++ code that i could use to check if the folder is empty?

Or are there any programs out there that can do this for me.
It would just take too long to do it manually.

 

I use a freebie from ONTRAK called PDFIND which came as part of the free version of powerdesk 5. As far as I know it works without calling on any of the powerdesk 5 files i.e. it's a stand alone program. Here it is and I hope it works for you - unzip click on the exe file and you can configure anywhich way you like.

Don't know what OS you are using, but in XP you can use the search options to specify the size of the folders you're looking for. In this case you would specify "at most" 0 bytes. When they all appear in the search panel just highlight them all and delete them.


You can also try downloading the Ashampoo Trial program, but I don't know how many modules wil function in the trial version.
