Ok, I got this from here so don't blame me if it doesn't work.

Open my computer right click on the cd then properties then auto play tab and select take no action.

I don't use WinXP Pro but this should work for you. Just make sure the 'take no action' isn't checked. Unchecking it should enable autoplay for you.

If you get yourself MS Powertoys for XP from HERE and once run goto.......... My Computer > Autoplay > Types and put ticks in boxes ( if there are already ticks in boxes untick & apply then retick them and apply )

Ps. you can pick the modules to install, the only one you really need is TweakUI

    thought I would piggy back!!

I have a similar problem and none of the above fixes worked...

Nothing will autorun and the CD contents will not auto-refresh in the My computer window...
It is always stuck on whatever was in the drive when I booted up last....

Meaning if there was a game CD in my drive at last boot, and I take it out and put in a CD-RW disk... it will not refresh.. I can click on the Icon and see the contents, but the main My computer window will always show what was in before...
For instance, using the above example, the system will not recognize that there is a CD-RW disc in and then will not provide me with the option of erasing, writing to, etc.. I can go into Nero and it will do it, but even in Nero it will show the CD as the old item...

as in this picture.. I haven't had My Download CD in for quite some time.. but it was in there at last boot.. and it will not change.
Refresh doesn't do it?? I even did a re-install of XP home and no luck....

    Any Ideas?

Took a bit of tweaking and playing and math, (Yuch I haven't been in school in almost 15 yrs...see kiddies, learn your math.. we do use it in the real world....well at least the geek world!:D )

    Worked great!
    Thanks again!

Glad you could figure out my ramblings :), have now added examples of hex values for people not used to the hex-system.
