AV200 CableLAN Adapater problem

I've already posted this in the networking forum, but I think that it is now more of a hardware issue.

That is what I originally posted, I would like to emphasiese a few things I've noticed.

When I plug the adapter in, the Ethernet switch I have it connected to (D-Link 10/100) detects it, but the adapter does not (adapter being the AV200 CableLAN). The adapter's Ethernet light does not turn on, it does not blink. The power light is solid green, the other adapter I have blinks green when first powered up. When I connect a coax cable between the two adapters, the working one's light indicator does not light up, but the "broken" one does. If I remove the coax cable, the light remains on.

Any help would be appreciated... is it fried? Is it stuck in some sort of loop?

I would say "yes". I think the combination of "unbelievably hot" and "the adapter still refuses to acknowledge its connection" and "The adapter's Ethernet light does not turn on, it does not blink. The power light is solid green, the other adapter I have blinks green when first powered up" means that you have a fried adapter on your hands. I did a quick Google of AV200 CableLAN and it looks like these items aren't cheap at about $100+ each.

Sorry to say but the unit is dead.
I have this same problem in 50 !!! cablelan adapters. They start to fail after 8 months of work.
We complained to the seller an they replaced the units but i´am afraid that this will die too.

opening the adapter the problem is visible, capacitors leak in power supply.
I have to say that this problem never ocured in the old models o Corinex that i have used for about 4 years.
