Caliban I don't need no steenkin' title!

Just a head's-up: I installed the new version this morning, and after restarting the machine, Firefox had a couple of minor hiccups - I 'okayed' through everything, and FF is running normally now - IE8 started normally...

Would be interested if anyone else sees this...

Updated 5 windows partitions to the latest FF version. No hiccup on any of them. (2K, XP Pro, XP Home)

Thx, plodr - everything seems smooth here - I like hiccups when they go away...;)

Just installed avast! 5.0.677 today. No problems for me using Opera.

Installed the new update from Avast as well as the update from FireFox earlier today and no problems so far. :)

No issues here on 4 PCs with the latest engine update for Avast, but curious as to what where the hiccups? what issue presented itself, an error message or strange behaviour in pages etc

Thanks, everyone - been normal for the past couple of days...

Halo, I'm kicking myself for not recording the error - seems like it was something to do with not being able to access a port when I tried to open my FF home page (Google.com) - I attributed it to the new avast! re-evaluating local ports...

I was in a hurry, and forced it to fix itself, which it did, unfortunately...

    Hi

Ah ok, not a biggy just curious and just another question did you reboot when the Avast asked or did you suspend the reboot till later?

Just possible if suspened the reboot that indeed the scanner blocked for a moment the outgoing ports for internet.

    Cheers.

Closed all windows, updated the engine, and rebooted - then, opened avast! to make sure all was kosher - closed the interface, then opened FF to the Google home page, which is where I got the error - shut down the error, closed FF, and reopened FF - all was good, then...

    Weird...
