Avast - "access denied"

Here's the problem: The other day, I was dutifully running all of my AV and anti-malware programs: Avast, Spybot, MalwareBytes, SuperAntiSpyware and I updated Spywareblaster. Avast found 2 infected files and quarantined them - C:/Windows/sysccbx32.dll and C:/Windows/sysmdjn32.dll, High Threat, Win32:Spyware Gen-(Spy). It was moved to the Virus Chest and that was "Action Successful". I can't remember and I am very sorry, but I was really tired when this happened and very distracted. I box popped up in the lower right hand side of the screen, it might have been PC Tools Firewall or MalwareBytes or one of the others. I checked the logs, but the other 3 are clean (BTW, where are the logs for Spybot? I do remember it came up clean when I ran it). After I thought the infected files were quarantined, I ran the programs again. When I tried to run Avast, I tried to click on the scan buttons, but a box pops up: "Unable to start scan. Access is Denied" and it won't let me scan with Avast. I can do a Boot-time scan and that comes up clean, as far as I know and according to the logs. When I pass the cursor over the Avast icon in the system tray it says, "Your system is secured". Is it??? Do I need to flush out System Restore? Is there a way to do that without losing all of the old restore points? Nothing else strange is going on.

Side question: Are people getting a lot of infections from Facebook?

As always, THANK YOU in advance for any and all help. God bless you all and have a good night. :)

Thanks falconattack. :) I respectfully disagree with you because these programs are recommended by MajorGeeks and that's why I use them. Again, thank you, your help was appreciated. :)

Update: I checked Avast again today and I can SCAN!!! :) I forgot to mention that I used the Repair in Add/Remove programs, but the problem seemed to continue. Maybe it just needed additional rebootings??? I don't know. :( I'm going to run all of the AV and AMW programs later today and I will report back later. Also, I forgot to mention that my OS is XP Pro (I was really tired, sorry about that). More later.

One more thing, I've had a lot of problems of late (off and on the past 3-4 months or so) with PC Tools Firewall hanging up different programs (AOL and not allowing Avast to update unless I turn PC Tools off). Are there any adjustments I should check in PC Tools? Is there a better "free" firewall? I've liked it until recently (the problems have really wasted a LOT of my time). Thanks in advance. :)

UPDATE: I thought everything was OK and got the "ACCESS DENIED" problem again. I "repaired" AVAST again (and again) and rebooted several times and ran all of the previously mentioned programs again and now things seem to OK again --- I hope. :)

I'm still wondering if anyone else has had these problems with PC Tools Firewall or if this is common with firewalls? Was it a virus/malware attack? Thanks again and have a great holiday weekend everybody!!! :)
