Avast Free edition seems to be giving me a lot of false-positives lately. First it was with an older version of DVD Flick and just today with my Mailwasher Pro 5.0. Any ideas for a fix for this. Both programs were OK before today's update.:confused

Avast is the uber-emperor of false positives. That said, it is never a bad idea to get a second opinion. Upload the file to http://www.virustotal.com/ and see what they think about it. Better safe than sorry, right? :)

    Thanks Mimsy,
Got any suggestions for another good free AV, besides AVG?

    Avast! :p

Seriously, it is one of the best ones out there. If you really don't like it though, try out Avira. I use it on my XP computers, and it's very good.

I started having the same problem tonight. There is another thread about this too. Hopefully Avast will issue an update/fix for this soon. Never had a problem with the program before, so I'll give it a pass this time.

Yeah I would suspect the next virus definition or so should resolve it. Too many complaints.
