Please I need some good advice on which program is the most reliable and easy to use..Right now I am running Avast with Sygate..Ok the thing is my service provider is offering free Norton's anti virus and firewall. What I want to know is would it be wise to change from Avast to Norton's..
Any help would really be appreciated.

That would be the dumbest decision you can make. Norton misses 80% of the viruses it scans for and is bloatware, in other words it sucks the memory out of your system. Stick with Avast.

Thanks for your reply. I will be keepng Avast because I have never had any problems with it. I just thought Norton's being a fairly big name that it might be better. I need a reliable anti virus and I guess I all ready have it. Plus it seems to work well with Sygate. Thanks again!!!

Also they won't be offering it 'free' in the true sense of the word. After a period of time your free subscriptions will expire and you will be required to pay to continue getting updates.

Stick with avast. or if your bored and just want a change look at AVG

No anti-virus catches 100% of threats. The same scorecard I read that said Norton missed 80% of new attacks also said Avast missed 60% & AVG missed 70% of the same ones. That's why these programs update practically daily. Best defense is a combination of anti-virus, secure firewall & anti-spyware programs, Windows Updates and common sense.

    Dear Star,
Now you have totally confused me. If the conventional wisdom says we should only have one anti virus then how can we have a combination. What combination are we talking about?

    Hello-
I believe Star meant a combination such as Spybot Search and Destroy (anti spyware) AVG (anti virus) Sygate Personal Firewall(firewall)......... not 3 different anti virus ( you are correct this would be wrong )

    hope i clarified
