1.I keep getting an error everytime I restart. It says something connected to Avast! is causing it called AshDisp. What the heck is this and do I need it?

    2. Also to check on e-mail and make sure I am not dl anything Avast! is capable of detecting, what do I need to auto allow on Zonealarm. what I really mean is what can I allow auto access to so popups asking for permission to connect to the internet won't get in the way of Avast! auto checking the content it's supposed to.

    3. Lastly what the heck is this VRDB generator?

    well,
1.What is the error you are getting? Does it say anything more?

ashDisp.exe is a part of the Avast Internet security suite. This utility forms an important part of your computers protection against Internet-bound viruses and worms, and should not be terminated.

    2. Not quite sure what you mean by this. What e-mail program do you use? I am not totaly sure if they conflict, I am sure that someone has more knowledge on this than I.

In general...you should have all red x's in the two right hand columns for Zone Alarm (right click ZA in system tray, click "Restore Zone Alarm Control Center", click "Program control" [left hand side] - Program tab [at top]) and either green checks or question marks for the two left columns.

Example for Avast is below: (but I'm not sure if this is what you meant by your question)

Not certain if this the answer you want, but when you are prompted for access - check the box above "allow or deny". It says something to the affect of : don't ask this again. Lastly, like the previous post/screen shot said: even when you auto-allow something it only checks the first 2 boxes. I had to manual "check" the other 2. It seemed that I would allow it to access the internet, but if the other 2 weren't checked - ZA wouldn't let it back in (for updates). Hope this helps a little. :)
