Avast! questions

    After having mutipile problems with AVG 7, I'm interested in Avast!, I've read some very good reports about it on this Forum, some questions - Any problems with Win. 98SE, can you get updates manually, does it interface with Outlook Express, is it a CPU hog - Thanx in advance

    Fine with 98 as far as I know.
    Updates are automatic and you never notice.
    Interfaces with OE fine, even tags virus as [Infected] before the header.
    CPU usage is fine, roughly 16 megs overall.

    I swear by it, its my new AV. Hey, where in Liverpool are you, I grew up across from the High school\Elementary school. In Baldwinsville now.

    Agree with MA. I use it on my P2/400 W98SE laptop. No problems. Not a hog of resources on my 288mb RAM. Updates are automatic and seamless. Only thing, if you elect to use the VRDB function, it takes ages. I now don't bother as I do regular backups via other programs. Just tick the Disable VRDB generation box. I changed from AVG to Avast after running AVG for ages. Bazza

    MA, wow, small world, we are practically neighbors, I'm over in the "Meadows" just south of the Hopkins Road Ball Park - Looks like Avast! will have a new customer soon - Thanks again for the help - HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYBODY

    yeah i just switched to avast a couple weeks ago. and like they mentioned, the updates cannot even be detected. every once and a while when i log on, it will have a notice in the bottom right corner that says "Avast has been updated". Very nice indeed.
