When I look at the scan results from Avast there are tons of files that were not scanned for various reasons.

    1. Archive is password protected.

    2. The file is a decompression bomb.

    3. OLE archive is corrupted.

    4. Installer archive is corrupted.

Could you explain what 1-4 mean, and do I need to do something so these files can be scanned?

First one is fairly self-explanatory: they are .zip or .rar files (typically) with a password. Can't scan inside them without the password.

For the rest however, you may want to contact the folks over at the malware forum as they will be better qualified to interpret the AV results, and perhaps can give you instructions on a more thorough scan.

Do these password protected files need to be scanned and if so, how do I unlock them?

    Did you create these files?
Do you, or are you going to, ever use them?

I already ran the decompression bomb passed our Malware experts who did not really think it came under malware and gave this link for info http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Decompression_bomb

They also suggested that you look at the file to determine the contents. As Mada asked, did you create the file yourself - maybe downloading things (very large things) via Torrent or P2P downloaders and they could be password protected? Another suggestion was a Norton Ghost image type of file? Take a look at the file and let us know details.

Avast did not detect any new viruses, however, computer still acting infected. There are 569 files unscanned. I do not know how to get a screen shot or copy & paste from the Avast results screen. I say this because I do not know what those files are and if I need them. Can anyone instruct me?

Please follow the instructions in the below link and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

Then attach the results in a thread you create in the malware section.

Sounds to me like you downloaded something you shouldn't have, and got a nice bit of malware.

Your first step would be to follow the instructions in the READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide
to ensure your system is free from nasties, and then return here once your system has a clean bill of health.
