Avast,whats the deal

In the download section it says that Avast AV is free..The program says it is only good for 30 days..What gives?:confused

Did you download the purchase version and not the free one? I see the sept 28 2010 expiration date on the pic and must assume that you installed the PRO version with a 30 day free trial in lieu of the free version which has a license of a year. Must assume that you went to the alwils' site and somehow picked up the PRO version?

If you did install the PRO version, then just uninstall it with the Avast uninstall tool which you will find here in post 1. http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=54385.0

Follow the instructions, reboot and install the FREE version here at MG. Use the link that sikvik gave you to install the free version.

EDIT: OR the other solution is that you haven't registered the free version yet and that you have to do that within 30 days.
