average gaming pc

Hi all is Pentium 2.2GHz dual core better than 3.2GHz Pentium 4 ht for gaming? i no the graphic card plays a big part but I'm trying to build a averang gaming computer only! thanks

 

just judging from an old cpu comparison chart from tomshardware.com, shows that the core 2 duo's out perform the pentium D's, and the pentium d outperforms the p4 /ht too.

so, i would go intel core 2 duo...they are getting pretty inexpensive.

 

dual core will trump the p4 effortlessly

 

get a amd proccesor. you will save some money and get more bang for your buck

 

GeForce graphic cards 7000-9000 series would be good. Im using 8600GT and it so far very good with hardcore games like nfs.
