AVG 7.5 - Resart P.C. after every update now?

I'm using AVG 7.5 anti-virus (free version) and I have noticed that within the past week I have to restart my computer after every update. I normally check for updates every day right after I boot up. It seems that now it is going to be a boot up & restart every day. Has anyone else noticed this? It calls for a restart after small updates, like say 50 kb's. Just wandering if this is how its going to be from here on out confused

I have AVG free set to update on a scheduled time, basically default settings, and I don't even remember the last time that I had to reboot because of AVG. I'm running XP Pro with all updates. FWIW and I HTH. Perhaps reinstall it?

I'm pretty sure there's a setting that makes it so you don't have to reboot on every update. I wouldn't know exactly where, though.

It has been fine up until about 4-5 days ago and I haven't changed any settings manually. Just wandering if everyone else was getting updates without having to reboot on even the smallest ones. I'm running XP with all current updates, updated to Sun Java 6 just last night. Had the AVG issues before that though. I'll wait just a little while before I do a reinstall though to see if I get any more replies. Thanks for previous replies. I'll check and see if I can control these reboots through the settings.

OK, I found the setting for (update immediately) and it was not set there. It was set on the first selection ( Update upon next computer restart ). Funny thing is that like I said earlier I never changed it, Hope that isn't a sign of any malware.
The setting was found at >Launch AVG control center>Highlight and right click Update manager>Select Properties>Select Update Immediately.

I'll see if all goes well with the next update, I understand that large updates still require a restart. But those don't happen daily.

    Thanks again for the replies:wave

I have found that sometimes AVG changes various things within itself during some updates. Quite often after an AVG update Zone Alarm asks me if I want to give AVG access to the Internet, which has always been granted, but I have to give permission again.

I think it must be something to do with the updates which maybe changes AVG to default settings.

I believe that is exactly what happened, after I adjusted my settings back to (update immediately) I was able to get todays update without having to reboot.
Thanks for everyones help with this issue.
