I had AVG 7.5 on my PC before and when i tried to install AVG 8 i keep on getting errors, so i tried uninstalling my 7.5 ( which was a dirty work because i cant remove it thru add or remove and by all ways i know, so i used CCleaner and removed its entry, then ran autoruns and task manager to terminate all AVG related processes then deleted the folder ) then i tried installing AVG 8 again but i still getting the error ( which is "failed to create registry" ) so i installed avg 7.5 back and updated it but it is on error state ( anti virus and resident shield ). Is there a way to fix any of my problems? or if you have a recomended antivirus software please do so ( but this would be my last option ). Thanks and sorry for my english.

    Hi

As you now have re-installed AVG7.5, try uninstalling it with this uninstaller http://www.majorgeeks.com/Revo_Uninstaller_d5706.html tends to in many cases remove any reminents, also then run CCleaner and its Cleaner and Registry cleaner functions ( do run the registry cleaner a few times as orphaned entries will likely exist after the first cleaning )

    Then reboot, is important.

Then try re-installing AVG8.0 and reboot.

Also which Windows version are you using, are you logged in as Admin and if you have other security application slike Spybot which can block registry additions, please disable them before installing AVG.

Or alternative is AVAST for your Antivirus , my fav.

I would go with Avast, I used to use AVG but dumped them when they started to decide what I could and couldn't keep on my pc. You see I have a few older programs that are no longer available so can not be registered, so I use keygens to make them work. The keys are clean but AVG decided because they're keygens I shouldn't have them and falsely tagged them as having trojans. This kind of ticked me off since the keys had been on my machine for ages and had been scanned by AVG hundreds of times with no alarm.

I use Avast now and it doesn't see anything ill about the same keys AVG tried to ban. I trusted AVG with complete access to my PC but I wouldn't trust them as far as I can throw the internet now. Illegally fixing software is wrong, but I see nothing wrong with fixing old and out dated software that is no longer available or supported if you find it useful in someway.
