Why is it not removing tracking cookies such as Webtrends? Is that not considered spyware? It shows up under warnings.

Never had any warnings showing before, neither any infections.

I scanned additionally with SUPERantispyware (free) Spybot S&D and Antimalwarebytes' and these 3 also didn't pick up and remove these.

I did a search and deleted them that way. Wondering when/whether they will show up again!!

    Hi Oma

Cookies are nothing really to worry about, tracking cookies are a way of life on the internet and nothing, more so shopping etc works without them, sadly many security apps take too much stock in them being an issue, personally I think this is to inflalte their detection rates to scare the user! I tend to uninstall any app that decides cookies are a major issue as its not, which is why Ad-Aware is now not on my PC.

You can get rid of them easily with CCleaner or just deleting temps and cookies, but they will always come back as to surf many sites they are needed.

Yup: totally agree, and that's why I set ccleaner to *accept* cookies from all the sites I visit regularly: here, ebay, newegg, opiophile , and any other places I'm a regular...and just let the ccleaner take the rest off when I run it, around once a week, and that works good, but I agree absolutely, catching cookies just makes the malware preventers look good, it doesn't mean much...the more they make of it, the worse I think they probably are, in the areas that count...

The "scan for tracking cookies" is enabled. Guess I must have enabled it a little while ago? I DON'T like tracking cookies on my 'puter, even though it may be considered safe. Will use CCleaner to remove them when caught by AVG although it may be a constant battle. ;)

Main reason, me, and others, don't just "turn off" cookies, is because some sites I go to regularly--like this one--and amazon, and ebay, and abe books, and banks, anything, go a lot smoother--and quicker--if I leave the cookies installed, and several of the ways of keeping *those* cookies, while getting rid of the 'trackers' have been mentioned previously...since I run ccleaner once a week or so anyway, it's easier for me just to take all cookies, then keep the good ones on my cclist, and I'm bothered when hitting websites....

When I'm doing google searches, I'd rather just take the damn cookies when I hit site, than always be checking 'yes' or 'no' as it would slow me down to much, and saying 'no' to all cookies would do the same....again, the ways of dealing with them were mentioned above, just depends on what you want...I'm an anti-malware *nut*...but cookies...ahh, who cares, most of the time: little text file, no major deal, if it wants to go for a free ride w/me for a few days, and see where I go, I say welcome aboard...they'll find my "searching habits" just about useless, and the few places I do visit occasionally, yeah, I'm sure they aim their ads my way.... as does google...yawn.....

I didn't create a thread about *cookies* - it was about *tracking cookies*. I feel if a software program (AVG) spots them as a warning or whatever, one should be able to delete them in that same software or software itself should automatically delete them.

That for me clears it up. ;) Thanks you all for contributing.
