I'd say it's a false positive.... maybe do some poking around at Microsoft's OneCare web site, or download and install a different antivirus app, then try the AVG AntiSpy download again and scan it with the other new AV program. I can't imagine that AVG is distributing malware, especially something as unfriendly as Zlob.... maybe AVG's site has been hacked (unlikely tho'); try downloading AVG AntiSpy from a different site.....

Just d/l it, ran it, it's fine. (got it from AVG)

Just a note, the tag says Freeware, when it's actually Shareware.

No, the scanner is free. If you want the realtime shield and autoupdate features, you have to pay (except for the trial period).

I'm not sure about the mechanics or tech aspects, but I know that the Asus site was hijacked about 3-4 weeks ago; when someone went to the Asus site and tried to download a driver (for example), the driver wouldn't be downloaded, but a virus or some porn was downloaded instead if anything downloaded at all. In the Asus case, they caught the hijack fairly quickly and therefore very little real damage was done, other than the site being down or messed up or running really slow (the Asus site is ALWAYS slow, I mean alot slower than usual). I read about it at TechRepublic or ZDNet (?I think?). I should have saved a link to the story..... oh well......
