AVG Anti Virus Free Edition

I take it your using AVG7 ? and the message is to update to AVG8?

If the automatic updater will not work then, uninstall the older AVG and install the new AVG8


If its the virus definition files what wont update, then do you get any error messages as to why? Could try later as their servers maybe down or overloaded.

Check your firewall is not blocking the update, if you have Spybot installed disable it as it can block software from installing into the registry.


Also just so we have some other info too, which Windows version are you using.

 

I've read several people had trouble updating AVG 8 for the past two days - it might be a server glitch and not a problem on your computer.
If it is v7.5, I have a suggestion for that. I was stuck and couldn't update a few months back.

 

Yes, there was a problem updating most of this morning for me. Because of the popularity of their free programs, they do seem to have occasional bandwidth problems.
