AVG Blue Screen Install Errors :-(

hello,

i am running windows ME and i am having trouble installing AVG Antivirus Full edition.

When i install the program, everything runs smoothly. The problem occurs on the required reboot, after which i get a blue screen saying:

An error occurred. To continue:

Press enter to return to wo windows, or
Press CTRL, ALT + DEL to restart your computer.

Error: 0E: FFFF:FFFFFFFF

So i press enter and the same screen appears, but this time with error:

Error: 06:F000:00000000

Again i press enter and get the same screen with error:

File Name: VMM(01) + 000132CA Error: 0D: 0028:C00142CA

I press enter again and get the same screen with error:

Error: 0D:FFFF:FFFFFFFF

Then i press enter again and nothing happens. I have to restart the PC. No matter how many times i restart this process just loops.

I did a step by step boot, and after the following file is loaded, the blue screen appears:

File - AVGCORE.VXD - loads ok
File - AVG7RS.VXD - blue screen appears after this loads.

The only way to get back into windows, is to boot in safe mode, uninstall AVG and reboot. After doing so i can get into windows again with no problems.

I also looked at the AVG7LOG.LOG file in safe mode (under windwos/all users/application data/grisoft). It contained the following information:

2005-09-24 16:32:21,900 RPIL [4293979703:4294087335] INFO 000 AVG7.AM AVG Alert Manager started (312, Tue Mar 15 13:08:44 2005). Command line:

I cant make anything of this log file, maybe you guys can.

What is causing this problem??

Whenever you have issues installing an Anti-Virus program often it is because there is Malware on the system.

Please follow the steps below:

- Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ ME FIRST BEFORE ASKING FOR SUPPORT: Basic Spyware, Trojan And Virus Removal

Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

- Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps below:

- Download HijackThis 1.99.1

- Unzip the hijackthis.exe file to a folder you create named C:\Program Files\HJT

- Do NOT run Hijack This from the Desktop, a temp folder, or a sub-folder of C:\Documents and Settings, or choose to run it directly from the downloaded ZIP file.

- Before running HijackThis: You must close each of the following:your web browser, e-mail client, instant messenger, and programs like notepad, wordpad, MS Word etc. And any other unnecessary running programs.

- Run HijackThis and save your log file.

- Post your log as an ATTACHMENT to your next message. (Do NOT copy/paste the log into your post).

 

this is a clean install - ive not even connected to the net yet.

(im using my own pc to come here to the forums)
