Been following the wisdom here for a while now, using CCleaner. Also been using AVG free for years.

AVG seems to create a huge temp file doing its scan and CCleaner wants to delete this each time. In CCleaner should the AVG tick in Utilities be removed to keep this temp file? Would AVG benefit by having yesterdays temp file available?

    Hi

I would say no to keeping this temp file, was going to say unless AVG found any malware but then that would be in report. I dont see a benefit that sticks out as its likely just a history of what was scanned, are there many of these files in the temp location and what size are they?

What file extention do these files have as there was an issue with temp files being created with .MHT extention that latest version of AVG should fix.

I often see the same thing, (AVG file scans), if I even bother to read exactly what cCleaner is deleting.
I've been running this program for several years now, normally at the default settings. I install and run it on every computer that I help out with. Personally, I have had zero problems and great results with it. Especially run it before doing any scans so your not wasting time scanning temp and other junk files that are slated for deletion anyway.
It's a good program and should be part of everybody's toolkit.

This is what CCleaner deletes every time in AVG. See below.

It deletes even the update and scanning info and the biggest culprit is the update file it creates every time there is an update of AVG. Makes me angry seeing that AVG creates at least 55 MB every day and me deleting it every day. Think it started for me when I updated from 8.5 to 9.

I'm thinking of going over to Avast but read in their forums that some folks are having difficulties with the new version 5 so will wait a while till the bugs have been addressed.

Thanks - 98 files in each of 2 folders, all looked like LOG type files

Agree 100% - CC is on every PC I have 'touched' for the last few years

So now its up to AVG to be a bit more tidy and clean up after itself. (ARE YOU LISTENING AVG?)

This is why I wondered - is there something in those logs to shorten the next AVG scan?

Who knows - I just get rid of them via CC and it seems no harm is done.

No, no harm is done by deleting AVG Utilities in CCleaner but one loses all info about updates, scanning etc. as well as AVG's history.

Therefore, prior to deleting AVG Utilities in CCleaner, I quickly check in AVG if updates and scanning have been performed and their results.
