    Hi!

    Everytime I turn the computer on, my AVG AntiVirus icon on the bottom right hand corner of my screen has a bubble that reads something to the effect that my E-Mail Scanner is not fully functionable. I click on the icon to open AVG, and the window, "E-Mail Scanner" is red. I click to open that and this is where I'm lost as to how to correct the problem.

    However, if I open that E-Mail Scanner Window inside AVG, and click on OK without doing anything, the red colour goes away and no more error bubbles appear until the next time I turn the computer on.

    I've reinstalled the program several times, and don't understand how to fix this. I'm not too familiar with the computer, so if anyone has any ideas or suggestions on how to fix this, you'll have to give me a step by step dummy instruction list, lol.
    :p

    I've got Outlook Express 6.
    Thanks for any help.
    :D

    I've had the very same problem with avg as you had, You might want to try avast! Anti virus you can get a free version from http://www.avast.com/eng/programs.html
    also you might want to download sygate personal firewall because avast! has issues with zonealarm.

    Thanks for your replies! I didn't realize that this was a known issue. Will it be fixed by AVG in an update?
    :confused:

    Compare your version of AVG to the latest free version; if yours is a lower number, download the new version. It's likely to have the fix included.

    Hi!
    Yes, I checked, and I've got the latest AVG version. I also tried the following;

    Quoted.......
    "On the next restart... open the Task Manager before AVG shows that the email scanner is active... look on the processes tab for an entry called AVGEMC.EXE (not in caps)... if it is there, then the email scanner is really running already and the AVG Control Center is just slow about acknowledging it..."
    Unquote

    The "avgemc.exe" is there when I tried the above while the error bubble was present. The AVG Control Centre is stuck on snooze I guess, lol.

    Thanks!
