AVG firewall,, compatible with vista home premium?

I just downloaded and ran AVG free edition, seems to work.

I then went to download AVG firewall (both the mentioned programs from majorgeeks best downloads) and it says not compatible with vista.

Can anyone tell me if the AVG free edition should cover me? & what firewall, I had AVAST previously would this work?

I have windows defender, is this sufficient as a firewall. I think it may have been Zone Alarm free I tried installing earlier & it didnt go through (whatever it was came from the list you posted from the main site), I have pre-installed windows defender, is this a firewall type program?

 

No, that is an anti-malware app.

If all you need is inbound protection, Windows firewall (built in) will be sufficient.

If you need both inbound and outbound, then you need a third party solutiuon, because configuring outbound protection in Vista requires considerable application and OS knowledge.

 

Excellent thanks A, so I should be covered via windows firewall, I think that is what stopped me downloading/running Zone Alarm. Ill check now to make sure ive got windows firewall.
