AVG found a virus but it can remove it

I had a different anti virus and it found 2 of the top named viruses and it couldnt treat it or remove. I later uninstalled it and downloaded AVG it found these 4 but couldnt do anything with them. It suggested moving to the virus vault but it couldnt remove it. I then downloaded the trojan remover that I found on the virus thread but it didnt even find them. I dont notice anything wrong with the labtop right now, but before in one of my post I mentioned that my labtop was messed up and I couldnt do anything it would load and then have problems like something about the kernel and exlpore having problems. and I couldnt use the internet. I did a system restore and used a retore point 1yr dated a year ago and then it was ok. So as I said dont really notice anything wrong, right now but just asking for advice as to what to do. Is there a way to remove the virus or is it ok to just leave them, since I dont see anything wrong.

 

They are in the system restore point. You will have to disable system restore to remove them. Read this. http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=31668

 

HI, I noticed that the files are in a Temp directory have you tried deleting them using a file manager as it is usually alright to delete temp files etc. and windows will stop you if it is using the file.

If you have gone back 1 year which is before the infection by the trojans then your system should be alright now but make sure you do not do another restore to the date when you were infected.

Have you thought about using a program to guard against trojans. I use Tuscan by Agnitum myself.

 

I made the restore system use less memory so it has erased all save point except the new ones I made before any download. I look at that link thanks. also I did try removing temp file but a couple couldnt be remove.

 

HI, Try removing the "Temp" files again as they could be free next time. There are programs to clean up temp files etc. but I can't think of a free one myself.

Have you ever gone to Nonags and check over their programs as they havea lot of free programs that are sometimes as good as bought ones.

 

I disabled the restore system and ran the AVG but this time it didnt find the virus so I did a temp file deletion on my c drive using Empty temp folder 2.8.
there were 3 folder that werent deleted. but they dont look like the file that I couldnt delete before. So what does that mean if AVG didnt find the virus and neither did Trojan remover???

 

It is likely -but not certain (so keep doing those AV scans!) that you killed it, by killing sys.restore.

If you followed all the steps in the MG virus and spyware removal process, you should be safe to turn it back on.

 

ok thanks for the help also I ran AVG a few time but it hasnt detected the virus. I turn sistem restore back on and see what happens.
