Hi - can anyone help me out of a hole also,,,,,,,

I have tried to install the latest AVG 2011 Free version several times and find it gives an error message each time of "Service AVGDSAgent (AVGDSAgent) could not be installed. Verify that you have sufficient priviledges to install system services." I finally got it to finish uploading, PC rebooted, and then I looked into the overview where it says "You are not fully protected" and notice that theIdentity Protection icon shows disabled. I try clicking onto the scanner and nothing happens, same goes for the scan specific files option. Back to the overview and all other options appear to be ticked green & OK except the PC abylizer which says analysis required. I click that & nothing happens. I then click "FIX" and get a message "Could not finish automatic repair. We weren't able to fix one or more components."
What the heck is going on? How do I get out of this? I even appear to have lost my old ver which this was supposed to replace so I cannot even revert back..

Ever since AVG 7.5, the software has gotten worse and worse. We no longer recommend it in our thread for How to Protect yourself from malware!.

I would suggest you uninstall it and go with either Avast or Microsoft Security Essentials.

You can go here and download and run the AVG Removal Tool.

Hello and welcome. Like TimW said some here long time AVG users and lovers have actually switched from AVG to something else. AVG has been messing up often with things and sometimes just better to get a different program. And you can find a program in that link Timw provided. Remember its not the top of the line software that really protects your computer its the user and what you do.

Thanks a bunch Guys - I will take your advice and go for Microsoft security essentials as an option. Keep up the good work - you are real appreciated.
