I can't schedule a scan on avg. I uninstalled it and installed again and it still doesn't give me that option to schedule a scan

Please remove the old profile and create a NEW scan profile in the Custom Scan mode, add items to this profile that have to be scanned like Files, Folders etc. and then press the Button 'Schedule this profile'. Now edit the time settings for this profile. Enable also here the option 'If scheduled time was missed...'.

Where do I find the Custom Scan Mode? All I see is the Advanced Settings button.
    Thanks,

I don't have AVG loaded on my machines so am working from memory. But if you go in to advanced settings you can select the files, folders you wish to scan and save that profile. This would be your custom scan, as it is tailored to your requirements.

Edit: I see Mark answered while I was distracted elsewhere and hadn't yet hit send on the reply I typed.

I've tried everything in advanced settings and it wont't let me schedule a scan. I can manually scan, but also in the mean time since I last posted the updater was disabled which leads me to believe that maybe somethings infected. I ran a scan and it didn't pick up a virus, it picked up the usual spyware stuff but that's all.
Is there anything you would recommend to download?
    Thanks,

    P.S. I have Windows Vista

Please follow the instructions in the below link and, starting a new thread in the Malware Forum, attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions. When they have given you a clean bill of health come back to this thread and raise any ongoing additional issues you are still experiencing. But first, we need to know your PC is clean under the circumstances.

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

    • If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going.
Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not.

      Notes:
    • If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode. You can run steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:
Starting your computer in Safe mode
    • If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools on another PC and burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.
