AVG update error

Hi. I've got a prob with AVG now...
The Updater won't run any more. :confused
It keeps returning "GENERAL ERROR"... Grrrrrrr
What's happened?
Do I need to re-install the whole lot AGAIN.

Has this been going on for a while or just today?

Open settings of "update Manager" component:
Open the AVG user interface
Choose "Advanced" settings from the "Tools" menu
Select the "Update" item
Select the "Manage" tab and click on the "Delete temporary update files" button
Update AVG program.

If the above doesn't work, try downloading the latest AVG installation file (http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=886 here at MG) and then run a "Repair" on your program. Update then to see if this fixed the issue.

If the above doesn't work either, best bet would be to do a complete uninstall, then reinstall the program.

P.s. Do you have any idea what's going on with the LIVE MESSENGER UPDATE?
It wouldn't update ANYTHING & I can't proceed untill the update runs o.k. :banghead
A few day's ago I had both this comp. & my net-book fail on me. This rig I can repair because it has a disc drive, the NB100 hasn't.
I thought I may be able to put Xp Pro on a flash-drive & boot from that but I get a DOS msg. saying the drive isnt partitioned. Where can I find an app. to do this?
I tried 2 from the homepage list here, one of witch doesn't seem to recognise the flash-drive when it's inserted & the other I wasn't to sure about (ramDisc or something like that) so I emailed the company & they weren't any help, they just wanted to assure me if anything goes wrong there not to blame. rolleyes

 

Too L8. It was a simple oversight on my part, shouldn't happen again.
