AVG Updates Make Me Restart the Computer

Hello All,

I hope I'm posting in the right place and if not could you please re-direct me to the right forum.

I have the AVG Anti-virus Free Edition Version 7.5.488 Virus Base: 269.14.4/1055 Release Date: 10/7/2007 10:24am

I've had this program running for months with no problems but over the past two days when I look at my computer in the morning the AVG icon in the lower right side of my screen is grey and when I put my curser over it it says: "Update Manager: To finish the update process, it is necessary to restart the computer. Next update check scheduled on 10/8/2007"

I've restarted the computer twice and it will become frustrating if I have to do this everytime AVG needs to update its Virus Base.

Why all of a sudden do I have to restart everytime? Did AVG change something about their Free Edition? FYI: I leave my computer on 24/7.

I also run 24/7 and I can't remember the last time I have had to reboot because of AVG. BTW, I also have the same updates as you as of this morning. :confused

 

I know. This is very frustrating.

 

go to AVG Control Center.

Update manager, prtoperties.

Make sure it is set to update immediatly.
