AVG upgrade blocked/bit defender

    I am in midst of download from MG site of AVG 9.0 and receiving message the install cannot be completed until BitDefender is removed, takes me to the Add/Remove programs/but BD is not listed.
    I run Windows XP sp2 w/ Firefox browser.
    How can I locate and remove BitDefender?

    BitDefender may have been previously uninstalled, but some remnants may be hanging around causing problems. You might try Microsoft's Windows Installer Cleanup Utility, found here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301 ...

    panicked quickly but then found BD removal tool & I have successfully downloaded AVG 9.0
