A few days ago I noticed that my AVG wasn't updating. I tried to do it manually but no go on that either. I downloaded the latest (7) version, and I'm still stuck. It keeps telling me to change my internet configuration. I'm on DSL, and all of my other internet stuff works, so what's going on?

Laptop: Pentium 4, XP Pro, heaps of free space RAM, etc. (machine's only a year old). I'm on a cable (because I can't get my wireless to work, but that's another topic).

    Thanks,

    Peel

I have been experiencing the exact same thing. It seems to me, though, that the "Internet configuration" error is merely a too-busy update server. It works after a few tries, or just leave it and it will eventually connect and download. As to why it isn't successfully completing sheduled updates for the last week is still a mystery.

What kind of wireless card and brand of WAP?

It's a Netgear wireless/cable hub/router, and I have an Intersil Prism wireless card. I can get it to "connect", and it says I have a good signal, but I can't get online, etc.

I recently obtained a Dell Centrino notebook, and had somewhat similar issues at both home and work using Netgear WAPs. I was even seeing wireless networks in the next building, but couldn't get connected to my WAP 10 feet away. The solution, oddly enough, was to simply enter the Wireless Settings section of the WAPs, and change nothing-- just hit Apply and exit. There should be a similar section in your wireless router's web interface.

Ms Peel, AVG's troubles in updating is why I gave it the flick and went to Avast

    Avast download http://www.majorgeeks.com/download1968.html

Love the way Avast searches for updates, and then updates automatically and unobtrusively, every time you go on the net. Baz

PS: Ms (Emma) Peel, (Diana Rigg) was my favourite in TV show, The Avengers. Before your time, I suspect. Baz
