AVG wont update

Would someone please help me with this; everytime i try to update my AVG free edition i get this: 'Request timed out and could not be completed; update server connection interrupted'. And i have also had this message: 'The requested file cannot be found on the update server'. I have been trying on and off all morning to update but cannot. This has not happened before.

Happening to me as well. Sounds like an AVG specific problem at the moment.

Is your firewall blocking the connection for avg too update? You could always try manually updating avg: http://castlecops.com/t100412-How_to_Manually_Update_AVG.html

Yayup, here too...they may have more issues than they thought; the direct download, when it evenually contacts the server, brings down a zero-byte file.

 

s'okay, grisoft are having problems with the update server and are working on it, should be fine soon. Thanks very much for the replies.

I'm brand new here. Thanks for this thread, it's one of the things that came up yesterday on my computer. But I have a Tray App problem that won't go away so I'm on to post a new thread. Just wanted to say "thanks" and I'll go use Brandon's link next

 

Hello,

AVG Free edition tells me that it can't update. The error message says:

"An error occured when trying to connect to the server. The server name cannot be converted to the IP address."

Is this the same problem that you guys have had? Is there a problem with the grisoft server as there was last week? Or is it something else?

That is the same message i got when my AVG wouldn't update, and i have just tried to update it now and it said there were no updates available, try again later.

You would probably do best to go to the AVG free forum, they are pretty good there.
