avg wont work

i down loaded avg on my computer and my sons.but my sons ,i dont know but it quit working,so i have down loaded several times.and it says its installed.but when i install it haves problem and ask for a key.i wrote down what it said the first time but its not valid,so i downloaded the unbrella one.but i dont like the way it does,it doest seem as good.i like the avg where it scans the email too.im running windows xp,and i have the firewall off and everthing at medium settings.can some one please help.

 

I had a problem last week with AVG when all of a sudden it starts asking me for a key when it was always supplied with the free version, inserted right where it should be. I finally uninstalled it and downloaded the latest. The serial was there and has been running nicely since. I hope that helps.

 

Auggiedoggie is correct. You have to uninstall AVG and install the newest version from here.

Now, you have to get rid of the umbrella one (it's called Avira AntiVir) and any other anti-virus you might have tried. You MUST ONLY RUN ONE ANTI-VIRUS program on your computer. Trying to use two AV programs at once will cause serious problems on your computer.

 

i go in to add/remove programs,it shows avg,i highlight it,then hit reove,it says that it does.but in the add/remove program it still stays there,and i do a search a bunch shows up on avg.but wont let me delete all files.it was working great.but i have a licened copy of windows xp home.i registered it on my computer,then installed on my sons.it went to windows website and said enter another key# this was already used.and thats when the avg messed up.i can down load any other program from your web site,and delete them.but the avg wont work.know

 

This is not a problem with AVG.

Windows is not properly installed on your son's computer because you need to buy another Key and install it properly and Legally. AVG will not function on your son's computer untill you have resolved this issue.

 

you mean buy another windows 2000 xp program,or what

 

You cant install Windows XP Home on two computers with the same Product Key. The version installed on your son's computer will not work unless you buy another Product Key from Microsoft and then reinstall XP Home on your son's computer.
