I run Windows XP Home SE. I downloaded Grisoft's Anti Virus and am very pleased with it except I cannot seem to get into the forums. They have sent me new passwords but none seem to work, so thought I'd turn to you again. You have really helped me in the past.
Two things. First when I try to update it seems to be working fine and then it says that it was unable to install updates because Internal Database Is Out Of Date. How do I bring it up to date? Second, After running the anti virus program,it states that there are no viruses. In the list of files, all except two files say OK, but one Kernel 32.dll file says "change" and one Shell32.dll says "change". I don't understand these things and wanted to ask them about this, but I hope that you can help me understand the problems.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

    HI!
You can update AVG manually here or at Grisoft.

As for the 'changed' files...that's normal after you've gotten a Windows update or installed a program that updated those files to work properly.
It used to 'freak me out' too!
I also never had much luck in the forum.

I've had no problem using their forum. Somebody there gave me these instructions for resetting the "changed" indication:
The first method has never worked for me, but the second one does.

If you want to uninstall ...right click the icon in the system tray and "Quit AVG control Center" ....then go to programs / avg / uninstall. You should be fine.

Red, how did you try to uninstall AVG...through Start/Programs/Avg uninstall or through Control Panel/Remove Hardware? Either should have removed some of the program, but possible not all of it hence the problem, if you download CCleaner minus the Yahoo toolbar available here from Major Geeks that should remove any traces of AVG left by your unsuccessful uninstall. Then you can reinstall from MG. Hope that helps and keep posting

Well guys, I've tried everything. First, Avg is not listed in the Control Panal Uninstall. I right clicked on the tray icon and then went to Programs-Avg and tried to uninstall but it wouldn't let me uninstall. I downloaded Cclean and tried to uninstall or delete it from there. The folded in Programs has so many files that I would never be able to tell which are safe to delete. Right clicking and delete will not work either. Some of the files are needed by the system and it seems impossible to unistall or delete any of them. What to do now? Could I just download Avg Free again?,or will I just create more of a mess? Would system restore to a date before I installed Avg get rid of the files?
Thanks for being patient with me. I appreciate any help or ideas.
