avg

is avg as good as people say i dont want to remove my norton for something not as safe

I'm a computer dummy, so my information may not be correct, but this is how I understand it...........

AVG was recommended to me by a techie. It's more thorough and less of a system resource hog than Norton.

If you decide to use another antivirus program other than Norton, be sure to remove all Norton files before installing another antivirus program as it could cause conflicts. Never have 2 antivirus programs installed and running. (However, you could use an online antivirus scanner in addition to the installed antivirus program, but don't download the online scanner).

avg is every bit as good as people say, ive used them all, and id never use norton or mcafee even if they were free, norton is a massive system memory hog although it is good, one of the best in fact but avg is better with updates daily, or even bi-daily and its free!, so Oooops, your not such a computer dummy after all! also, never run an online av scan, unless its from an official grisoft, or norton website! they are usually dodgy and they are slower to run, i also recommend: spybot search and destroy, ad-aware se personal, spyware blaster, zone alarm free, avg free, avg anti spyware free, useing all of these together, coupled with a fully updated windows makes a really secure pc, AND DID I MENTION THEY ARE ALL FREE!!!!!!!!!!!! :major i-CONICA... :major

 

Norton is terrible; used to have it, wound up with a virus that completely filled up the Hard Drive. Got AVG now, it works just fine.
