ok, i just installed AVG, from everything ive read it look good, but is this enough??? is it also a firewall? do i need another program??? or is this enough???

i also have ad-aware and spybot to get rid of spiware but will AVG take care of everything else? thanks for your help!

 

AVG provides virus protection only. You will need a firewall, also. MG has a large selection of freeware and shareware firewalls here http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloads34.html Sygate and ZoneAlarm (which I use) seem to be the most popular. Get SpywareBlaster, too. It's in the spyware tools section.

 

JJJ, I used to be a disciple of AVG. MG users convinced me to try Avast.

Like Avast better, as it does updates automatically and unobtrusively. It checks automatically every time you log on to the net. A popup screen, and voice tells you of the update. Neat.

Your chice, but don't run both. Both have their users on MG. Use one or the other. bazza

I've used AVG for a couple of years now, with no problem. I use Zone Alarm(free version) for the firewall.

I have SpywareBlaster running in the background, and I also update and run Ad-aware weekly.
