Today, on my client's computer, I got about 20 events in the Vista Event Log saying 'A timeout (300000m/s) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the avg8wd service'.
    What does this message mean?
    It is AVG Free 8.5
    Windows Vista Premium SP1 32-bit
    Spybot S and D 1.6.2
    ZA 8.5

    Yes...AVG Watchdog Service

I do not know what the message means exactly but I see you have posted at the avg forums where you may get a response too. Is the machine in question having any obvious troubles updating etc?

Windows is updating fine, and there have been no other spyware, malware problems

I ran MBAM but it was clean.
SpyBot was clean, but I can't run SuperAntiSpyware yet as the client needed his machine

OK. It could also be a ZoneAlarm issue but I guess you've already checked that...
