I finally figured out why I was having trouble uninstalling AVG6.0....

    1. SpyBot S&D Resident is picking up the file as hostile or something.
    2. I allowed it to delete the global entry, and brings up the error for setup. Duhme !
    3. Anyone know where or how to get that file back so I don't have to remove the other files manually, and re-install the program again ?
    4. I think I want to run AntiVir rather than AVG, would appreciate others opinions on this also......

Hey carl. Have you tried the "recovery" button in SpyBot S&D main page? I don't think it would list a Resident delete, but it's worth a look.

Hi Bill, Yes I did look and No it doesn't let you recover from Resident that I could find. I went and checked several other files in AVG also, they must have been affected by the global deletion also somehow. I couldn't even use the original install.exe to load it back again. I didn't realize I had hit the allow delete button, and done that untill it was too late to get it back.
I wonder why SpyBot recoginized that as a bad file ? It hasn't done that to AntiVir, or Norton. I'm just going to do a manual remove and re-install it to remove all the entires I may miss. Then I will use CCleaner to clean up anything else. And I will disable S&D Resident untill I get this completed. I will make sure also that I watch that closer in the future, I didn't realize that SpyBot was seeing that for what it was. Oh well, I'm learning more and more as I go along. I was going to take AVG out and use AntiVir instead for this pc, I know that I will forsure now.
Anyone know why SpyBot saw avgcc32.exe as something it needed to pick up ? Maybe I do not understand the way SpyBot works under Resident. But I didn't see much info on Resident in the help files..... CT
