Avi > dvd

I have used MANY different programs to convert AVI files to standard DVD format for home DVD players. I've tried all of the free ones (I liked DVD Flick the best) and several paid ones (the trials) and I have actually purchased ConvertX to DVD and WinAVI 8.0. My question is: with so many paid converters, are they all more or less the same? There's Cucusoft, Xilisoft, #1, 321, Apex, Alldj, AVS, AtoZ, Aimersoft, Star, OjoSoft, and the list goes on and on and on. I've tried a few of these in their trial versions just to check 'em out and It seems to me that they're all more or less the same. WinAVI is by far the fastest (700mb to full DVD in under 20 minutes!), and ConvertX is probably one of the easiest to use (drag-n-drop and click 'Convert' and that's it), but some of the others I think are all made by the same people and released under different names. Some of 'em have almost identical GUIs and certain words are spelled wrong in 3 different programs: the same word in the exact same place!!! I guess I'm just wondering if anyone has actually paid for some of these other programs and if so, can someone tell me if any of 'em are worth it and if there's any real difference between any of these? I'm happy with my purchases of ConvertX and WinAVI, I'm just wondering about the others.... not a big deal.

I use DivXtoDVD...it's free and as far as i'm concerned, even as impatient as I am...if it's free, I can wait for it to convert.
