I have a question that I know you guys could probably answer in a split second. I have a video clip in AVI. I used Any Video Converter (cool BTW) to convert it to a DVD platform. Well, it converted it into mpeg-2. Cool. I burn to a DVD and now I think I am set. Wrong. It works in a computer but I need it to work on a regular DVD player. Is there another converter or did I do something wrong?

Thanks again for all your help!!

ok first things first. what software do you have.

most burning software will have an option to create a dvd. you should just be able to drag the file and it will do the rest.

the reason it will work on your computer is because computers are smarter they will just take the file and play it.

dvd plays are different. the file needs to be in the correct directory

there needs to be two folders audio_ts and video_ts

    audio directory usually remains blank.

video_ts folder contains all the .vob files.

if your current dvd that does not work contains all the .vob files, .bup files and ifo files then all you have to do is create a new dvd with a video_ts folder and put all the files into it.

From my understanding of Any Video Converter, it is aimed at converting files into a format for PSP/iPod/MP4 players, etc. What you need is something that will create a DVD compliant file structure like what Broken Arrows is talking about up above. Here's two free apps I've used with great success to convert AVI files (and many other formats) to regular DVDs for a home DVD player....
DVDFlick http://www.majorgeeks.com/DVD_Flick_d5530.html (converts and burns the disc)
FAVC http://www.majorgeeks.com/FAVC_d5741.html (only converts; burn with Nero or whatever)
    How-To Guide for DVDFlick http://www.dvdflick.net/guide.php

I have only used FAVC a couple times and it works fine if you have another program to burn with and if you understand how to burn a DVD. I have used DVDFlick extensively and it does everything, but be patient... even on a high end PC, converting a full movie will take at least an hour or so. The default settings are usually fine until you're more comfortable and informed about what goes into converting files from different formats, just make sure to set NTSC or PAL depending on where you are on the planet. USA is NTSC, most of the rest of the world is PAL (except Mexico and Japan I think). Any questions about DVDFlick can be answered at their home page or in the guide I linked to....

    Good luck!!!

I used Sothink movie creator for my AVI to DVD. It worked pretty smoothly.
