avi to gif

I need a program that converts avi to gif. I did a google search, but those programs did;nt work

 

More info please os etc....what programs specifically do not work for you and why?

OSS Video Decompiler- Breaks down into multiple frames. I want an animated gif, not 54 unanimated ones.

AVI-GIF 2.1- works, but I can't save it without full version.

AVI GIF Converter 1.08- every time I press convert, "Windows has encountered a problem and needs to close"

 

You should be able to select the frames you wish to use and make them into an animated GIF with a program such as activegif, or giffactory....

 

I use Jasc Animation Shop 3 to put the seperate images back together in .gif format. Easy as 1,2,3. 1 copy image 2 paste image into film strip type frames 3 click animate. You can also use it to open an animated .gif image and it will automaticaly break it down for you to edit individual frames. Very slick program.

 

Ahhh, yes. I forgot about that app. Never used it myself, but I've always heard rave reviews about it. Thanks!

Can it break an avi down into frames, though? Or is porkman385 stuck using two apps for the one job?

 

Yes it will open and automaticly split most any thing and about all fixed images like jpeg, bmp, etc. Way too many for me to list but here are a few. avi, wmf, mpeg, clp, ani, mng, dxf, flc, fli, gif, cgm, cmx, cdr, fpx, m1v, mpv, ........many more fixed images. I say why bother with avi when it will open mpeg, mpg, mpv lol

Opening AVI files in Animation Shop can be a drain on system resources. To work around this problem, when you choose to open an AVI animation file, the AVI Import Options dialog box will offer you the option to open only a subset of the frames in the file.
