Avira antivirus install problem

The last few times that I've downloaded Avira's AntiVir from here at MajorGeeks, it errors out during install, and the error message is in German. The title of the error is "Fehler" which seems to obviously mean "Failure". I have attached a screen shot of the most recent one of these errors. It just happened about 10 minutes ago on a PC that I just finished installing a clean WinXP Home SP3 on a newly formatted hard drive. All the drivers have been installed, but I know it has nothing to do with the PC 'cuz I've seen the same error about 5 or 10 times in the past week or so on different PCs when using the download here at MajorGeeks. I have an older version of Avira AntiVir on a CD so I use that w/o any problems. I'm downloading AntiVir directly from Avira right now and we'll see how that goes (link: http://www.avira.com/en/free-download-avira-antivir-personal ).

Any input or thoughts will be appreciated!

    Hi

If your test comes out that the download from MG is a german installer then as usual and should be the first port of call is to contact tim @ majorgeeks.com he does not always see these threads in the forum, to be able to act on them.

If you do notice software out of date or with wrong version/installer then best course of action to help the site is contact Tim, he doesnt byte.

Possibles are we accidently linked to a different language installer (did you try all 4 download locations) or if your download direct is also giving same error then its Avira.

EDIT: Just downloaded and installed on a spare clean installed Win7 box and all went ok, I used the top download link the Download@Author's Site one and all went smoothly and in english, check if you have any language packs installed on that PC.

I can't get AntiVir to install either; tried on one computer in November and a different computer yesterday. Mine gives me a failure notice in English.
I'd prefer to have a working AV before I connect a computer to the web. I've had to connect the computers with no av and go directly to Avira's site and do it from there.

The download from Avira works perfectly (I linked to it above in post #1). I'm going to forward this thread to Tim....

thanks for the input everyone... and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

What link on the MG page did you both use as I used the top author link and it was ok.

@plodr what OS? and DL link at MG?

The OS on both was XP SP2 (both Dell Dimension 2400). I'm not sure where I downloaded the file from. I put it on a USB stick for installation once I got the hardware working.
I ended up taking both computers on the internet with no av. I figured they would be a bit safe because they were hard wired to my router.

The top big Download banner is fine too. I sent you an email with a screen shot that marks the download links that gave me the error message.:)

    Cheers Mims

The download file of Avira is being re-uploaded now, so should be fine.

I'm pretty sure I've tried both of the MG links. I know for sure that I didn't use the Author link or the Internode link. I'll try all 4 links later today and we'll see what happens. The download directly from Avira worked perfectly on the PC that had the German "Fehler" error I mentioned in post #1. The download was VERY slow from Avira (like 45k max), but it worked.
