    HI...
If this isn't the right FORUM, or if someone else has answered - please guide me - thanks...
Okay, so my memory sucks, lol... My laptop crashed and my dad kindly handed down a great one. He left his paid Kaspersky on it, but it ended and I can't afford to keep it up.

I used to run one or the other above and now can't remember which!! :-o
But would certainly appreciate any comments on the Pros and/or Cons of either. When I went to the download page of AVG someone made comments about the extent of resources the latest version took up - don't remember that - "I think" I used that one ..but the older version.
    :confused
I know they're both rated well... but personal insights are always better.
Oh, and I'm looking at the FREE versions.

Thank you, in advance, for your continued support in ALL you do,
    ~Cher

    Oh... also should tell you:
I run Windows 8.1 but will probably upgrade to 10 fairly soon, on a 64-bit HP Envy.
I also run Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and other programs suggested by MG's.

I'd also like to put the same thing on SO's computer who has an ancient desktop running Vista.
    :cool

My personal recommend in top 3 free antivirus are.

    1. Avast
    2. Avira
    3. AVG

But That's just me. But it boils down to how many false positives they pick up.

You linked to the Homepage of another tech website which is not helping anyone.
Have another look at post #3 - I linked to a specific article on another website.
    Likewise post #4.

Eldon, if one had looked at the link and the front page, one would have seen the website's own link for software on the bottom left, which I did yesterday.

After reviewing their software page, I found the contents to be lacking and not valuable in selecting an anti-virus software..I removed the bookmark on my rig.

And yes you are correct Eldon, that you use a Prime Link verse my
    Subprime offering. :-o:-o

Avira as of late, Avast for quite some time now. Emsisoft Anti-Malware for non gratis. I also have a lifetime subscription for Malwarebytes on our two Windoiws 8.1 top end machines but usually use an older backed up Windows 7 desktop w/o protection to browse the web.
