    Hi,
Just went to download nVidia Inspector from MG link to author's site - and Avira Browser Checker went nuts.

    Is Avira nuts?

Is this the page you started at?
    http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/nvidia_inspector.html

Strange when I click on the authors name, instead of taking me to a website, it wants to download something, which I cancelled

A google search gets me here
    Code:
    http://orbmu2k.de/
with no warnings from MBAM and MS Security Essentials.

Did you go to the above website?

I'm not quite sure at what link the warning pops up.

The author's site link doesn't actually lead to the author's site but a blog download link.
The correct author's site is actually: http://orbmu2k.de/
This doesn't lead to any warning.
The downloaded zip file itself when scanned is seen as clean by malwarebytes and Comodo AV and SAS

The problem is with Avira giving a false positive.
I suggest you turn off Avira and download the file. It's safe. MajorGeeks tests every software that it hosts.
Don't forget to turn on Avira.

Also unusual, at least to me, when you go to the orbmu2k.de site this is what is shown
    NVIDIA Inspector – Tool
    Februar 17th, 2011

and yet MajorGeeks give a date of 08/19/2015. So where did this more up to date version come from?

Somehow the home page (blog) link (as in #3) gives an odd response here:

I can't find the above string in the actual home page, I'd guess that it's a bad response from the webhost?
