avprot.exe has stopped working

    hey

    i was wondering if someone could help me out. Each time my computer boots i get the message that avprot.exe has stopped working and i can't get my task manager to appear on my computer. I am not sure if i have posted this in the right section. I have windows Vista and i really hope someone can help me out because formatting my computer is the last option i want to use.

    You're infected - do a Google for "avprot.exe', and you'll see what I mean...my advice would be to check the MajorGeeks Malware forum for step-by-step cleaning instructions...

    Be advised: a forum moderator may move this thread to the Malware section...

    i got rid of the virus but i still can't get my task manager to appear and now it says that launcher has stopped working aswell.
