Aww, Nintendo Wifi Fails

So it seems as though the DS is unable to connect to any wireless AP that uses WPA encryption (it only understands WEP). Does anyone know a good workaround? I really don't want to have to use WEP on my router, but maybe it'll be alright if I enable MAC filtering.

A brief look on Nintendos' website says nothing about possible firmware upgrades or a viable workaround (such as if the USB connector would help). Any geeks have a similar problem?

 

I have the same problem and I have to switch it to the WEP thing everytime i want to go on Wifi. I don't leave it on WEP because my other computer won't have internet connection. Does anyone know how i can leave it as WEP and have connection on my other computer? My wireless router is a Bigpond NETGEAR one.

 

Blacktop Roland: My best suggestion would be a second network on WEP. So you have the primary wireless WPA signal, then a second WEP signal farther down the line. So you have Router (WPA)>Computer>Router/Network Adapter WEP. Then you'd have to bridge the connections so you could access the internet with the DS. How that works, you'd have to ask someone else.

NintenDS:I believe you'd have to switch the second computer to WEP security. Or follow the advice above.

 

as far as I know, the Wii should support both WEP and WPA as well as unsecured (how i have mine... with nobody else within wifi range... makes no sense to secure my network)

 

You could always use access control like me.

 

It's the DS that's the problem. The Wii does natively support WEP and WPA. I thought that WPA was the superior security standard. Ah well.

 

I'm not sure how to do that XD...
